
1. What is a Professional Organizer?
A Professional Organizer enhances the lives of clients by designing systems and processes based on organizing principles and through transferring organizational skills. They help individuals and businesses take control of their surroundings, their time, their paper, and their systems. This is done through hands-on assistance, coaching, and educating.
2. Why should I choose a NAPO Professional Organizer versus a non-NAPO organizer?
The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) has been recognized as "The Organizing Authority" for over 20 years and boasts a membership exceeding 3500. NAPO's mission is to develop, lead and promote the organizing industry through the ongoing education and professional development of its members. All members of NAPO agree to abide by the organization's Code of Ethics, demonstrating the organizer's commitment to competence, fairness and integrity.
3. What type of organizing do you do?
We specialize in all types of residential organizing including but not limited to home offices, garages, playrooms, kitchens, closets, and basements.
4. What actually happens during an organizing session?
After the initial evaluation, appointments are scheduled according to the client's needs. The basic process involves sorting, purging, space evaluations, systems evaluations, and maintenance plans.

5. How do I get started?

6. What if I only want a Consultation not hands-on assistance?
Some clients may choose a Consultation Only to help them establish a plan of action and provide them with some direction. For this service, a consulting fee would apply with that fee being based on the scope of the client's needs.
7. What is the cost of your organizing services?
Fees are calculated at an hourly rate. These fees do not include packing and storage supplies or carting. Shopping services are also available at the same hourly rate.
8. How long will it take to get organized?
The pace of the project is largely set by the client therefore the time involved can vary greatly from one individual to another. On average, a room can take anywhere from 6-10 hours, home offices including filing can take from 10-15 hours and depending on the scope of the clutter, garages and basements can take longer.
9. Where do my donations go?
Most donations are presented to local charities. Should a client have a preference for a particular charity, travel expenses may apply.
10. Do you provide packing and moving services?
Yes, services are available for clients who are preparing their home for a move and for clients who are in the process of moving in and are in need of assistance unpacking and settling in.
11. What if I have been disorganized all my life, how do I know this will help?
Being organized is not genetic, it's a skill , one that can be taught and learned. In fact, everyone's level of organization can be raised! By working with a professional organizer and learning the basic principles that develop these skills and the maintenance techniques that support them, clients are able to enjoy long-lasting benefits. In some instances, clients may require ongoing assistance in order to maintain their desired level of organization. The frequency of these visits would be based on the client's needs.
12. How can I be assured that my personal information will be kept confidential?
Clients place a very high level of trust in their organizers. As a member of NAPO we fully embrace the organization's emphasis on integrity, honesty, and confidentiality. We conduct business in a relaxing, non-judgmental, respectful environment while being fully committed to keeping all client information, both business and personal, completely confidential.
13. How do you help clients who feel their problem is Time Management?
When working with clients who describe themselves as “time challenged” the focus is not on getting more done each day but on getting more of what they want done each day. By discovering and prioritizing personal objectives, we gain clarity of purpose-the compass by which we can better schedule our lives.
14. What is the Organizing for Students Program?
The Organizing for Students Program applies mostly to middle and high school-aged children. The program, developed by Donna Goldberg (author of The Organized Student), is for students who are suffering academically due to their lack of organizational skills. The process engages the child through a series of assessments regarding his/her academic life. Based on the resulting findings, we can develop specific organizational systems tailored to the individual students’ needs.
